Christmas Tree Permits Go On Sale Thursday, November 14, 2019
Alamogordo, Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, Carlsbad, NM (November 13, 2019) – The Lincoln National Forest will begin selling Christmas Tree permits on Thursday, November 14 for $10.00 each. A limited number of permits will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may purchase one permit per household, and up to four permits for four separate households. The last day to purchase a permit is December 24.
To purchase a permit please visit one of our offices Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. excluding federal holidays. As an added convenience, all four Lincoln National Forest offices will also be open on Saturdays from November 30 to December 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

With a permit, a tree may be cut in most areas within the Lincoln National Forest, except in a wilderness or designated closed area. A map and cutting guidelines will be provided when you purchase the permit to ensure you cut a tree only on the national forest and not on state land or private property.
Additionally, all fourth graders are eligible for a free Christmas tree permit through the Every Kid Outdoors Program. Fourth graders can visit any Forest Service office to receive a free fourth grade pass. When they present the pass or paper voucher with any accompanying parent or guardian, they can receive a free Christmas Tree permit.
