HURD-LA RINCONADA GALLERY AND GUEST HOMES

Located on the family's ranch in San Patricio, New Mexico, the Hurd - La Rinconada Gallery is home to the spectacular works of the Hurd family: Peter, Henriette Wyeth and their son Michael. The gallery also features a selection of works by renowned artist N.C. and Andrew Wyeth.

The Gallery sits on a knoll overlooking the Rio Ruidoso and faces north where the greenish copper patina of the roof is visible to approaching visitors. The three-story gallery building is built in a 'U' shape that collects sunshine in the winter and offers shelter from the spring winds. It is located on the south east corner of the emerald polo field which gave rise to 'la Rinconada', a Spanish word referring to that corner, and the many corners of the building.

Artist Peter Hurd settled in the small town of San Patricio and named his piece of land Sentinel Ranch. The ranch is named after 'Sentinel Hill', a vantage point previously used by Mexican homesteaders who kept watch for raiding Apaches and Mexican bandits.

Today, Sentinel Ranch will take you back to a simpler time. All of our charming, adobe casitas have been refurbished with modern conveniences but retain an old world feel. Each house features antique furnishings as well as the art of the Hurd and Wyeth family of artists. Curl up in front of a fireplace and relax with a good book. Or gather for a family reunion and celebrate with an outdoor barbeque.
