As different First Nations speakers shared\, they spoke of the walls that have been built between the visitors to this land and the First Nations people Jonathan began to see the need for these walls to be broken and wrote the song "Broken Walls" on the spot and performed it on the drum at this Gathering.\n\n\n\nJonathan Maracle/Broken Walls base many of their songs on the ancient sounds of the First Nations People of North America and often perform around their large Pow Wow drum\, singing songs of and to the Creator. The band has a team of First Nations Dancers that often accompany them in full regalia when they perform.\n\nJonathan's solo concert at Sacred grounds will be accompanied by a wonderful Native American dancer\, Rita Bear Gray who is Cree.\n\n\n\nRita Bear-Gray\, Cree\, born in Sandy Bay\, Saskatchewan is a dancer/speaker and former Washington State Director for the International Reconciliation Coalition for Indigenous People.\n\nRita has spoken for many years on the need for restoring Native American creative expressions within the walk and worship of Creator. "If you are a First Nations person\, Creator gives you back your songs\, your language\, your dances-everything about you that makes you who you are as a Native person."\n\nRita's dancing carries a culturally and spiritually powerful\, yet peaceful presence.\n\n\n\nThis concert is shaping up to be a wonderful merging of music\, dance\, storytelling and visual arts within the rich Native American cultural expressions.\n\n\n\nDon't forget to come early and meet Jonathan and Rita at the table where they will be selling handcrafted Mohawk wind flutes\, jewelry\, and t-shirts.
