Dance is an element of Culture. Culture is the foundation on which people of a society gather, celebrate, learn and pass on shared values through tradition. Civic Duty is an American and New Mexican value that has lost it's shine. Because Civic Duty still has value, let's learn ways we can participate and tools we can use for civility. As a way to "celebrate" civic duty, we'll also learn the American Tango. The Tango for Justice and Civic Health will be structured as a four week class beginning Monday October 2, 9, 16, 23. Class will begin at 6:30pm for a 30 minute discussion followed by a one-hour dance class. Topics for discussion include volunteering, voting, upcoming election information, resources for all political parties, the art of listening and more. The American Tango is an easy dance to learn because the basics are similar to walking and the tempo is not too fast. It has a distinct style and music that make it an intriguing and fun dance to learn. It is great for singles and couples, those new to dance, and those that want to add something unique to their dance repertoire. $40 for the month if paid in advance or $13 drop in fees. Bring water, no partner necessary.
