Dave Millsap Benefit Concert

Musicians and music lovers alike share an enormous respect and love for well-known musician, Dave Millsap. Dave’s musical career has covered decades with him joining some of the most recognized bands in the world. Perhaps the one that impacted him the most both professionally and personally, was his long term tenure playing and singing with the Delbert McClinton band. When the professional partnering ended, their friendship continues…that’s the type of relationships that Dave has formed with many musicians. 

This summer Dave and Carol’s home was burned down in our areas devastating wildfires. They lost most everything they had acquired over many years, except evacuating with a few guitars out of Dave’s lifetime collection.

Then a devastating diagnosis of cancer in Dave’s throat that spread to one lymph node has pushed them into another physical, emotional and financial crisis. Dave is currently undergoing radiation and chemo 5 days a week in Alamogordo.

But Ruidoso’s tight knit music community has come together and joined with one of Dave’s regular music venues, Downshift Riverside, to have a night of great music and accept donations towards Dave’s medical expenses. All of the musicians are giving their time and Downshift is hosting the event. There will be no cover charge and its first come seating. Dave Shanks, the creator and coordinator of this fundraiser has pulled together some of the best musicians around, for one of the best concerts of the year!

In addition to the scheduled band lineup there will be guest appearances by Sam Potter, Sheri Chanbler, Rick Button, Roxana y su CumbiaJoy, Chris Smith, Myron Cox and Jamie Estes. The concert will end with an all star jam that will leave your feet dancing!
