Carrizozo Music, Inc. presents Come To The Cabaret featuring Heather Dials accompanied by Fernando Lechuga for Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14. Grab your sweetheart and enjoy an evening of smoky jazz at the historic WPA Carrizozo Country Club located off 380, east of Carrizozo.
Heather Dials is a brilliant Soprano. She began her professional career at the age of twelve as Flora in The Santa Fe Opera production of "The Turn of the Screw." Dials made her New York, Alice Tully Hall debut at the age of twenty-one while still a student at the Curtis Institute of Music. She has shared the stage with many of today’s biggest names in opera including, Luciano Pavarotti, Juan Diego Florez, Anna Netrebko, Eric Owens and Stephanie Blythe. Dials has won numerous awards and competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions, first place in the Rosa Ponselle International Competition, and first place in the Mario Lanza Competition. She was a recipient of the Sullivan Foundation Career Grant and nominated for the prestigious Richard Tucker Career Grant. She has been heard in several live broadcasts for the Opera Company of Philadelphia and featured in the press by Opera America. As well as being an active performer, Ms. Dials has a vibrant vocal studio in Las Cruces, New Mexico and is on the voice faculty of the El Paso Conservatory of Music. She attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
The talented Fernie Lechuga will be tickling the ivories. Fernando was born in Juarez, Mexico but later moved to El Paso. His father Roman Lechuga, an accomplished pianist, first introduced him to music, and became his first teacher. Fernando began working as a professional musician at age 17 with various well-known groups in the borderland. He started the band Azucar in 1975, best known for spicy rhythms such as salsa and merengue. He graduated from UTEP.
