Event Description:
The Lincoln National Forest will begin selling Christmas Tree permits on Tuesday, November 13th. A limited number of permits will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. An individual may purchase only one per household, and up to four permits for four separate households. With a permit, a tree may be cut in most areas within the Lincoln National Forest, except in a 'wilderness' or designated 'closed' area. A map and cutting guidelines will accompany the permit to ensure you cut a tree only on National Forest System lands.
Additionally, all fourth graders are eligible for a free Christmas Tree permit, while supplies last, through the Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) initiative. Fourth graders can visit any Forest Service office to receive a free fourth grade pass. When they present the pass or paper voucher with any accompanying parent or guardian, they can receive a free Christmas Tree permit.
