IN 2004, Trout was awarded the U.S. National Amateur Welterweight Champion title and finished his amateur career with a final record of 163-42-1. Trout made his professional debut in 2005 at the age of 19 in Albuquerque, NM. At 154 pounds and 5'9", he rose through the ranks and became a mandatory challenger for the WBA light middleweight title. He held the WBA (Regular) super welterweight title from 2011 to 2013. He is also a three-time title challenger; challenging twice for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) light middleweight title in 2017 and 2017, as well as the World Boxing Council (WBC) light middleweight title in 2018.
