The Annual Youth Fishing Day event is back! After taking a temporary pause last year, the 26th Youth Fishing Day will once again be held at Grindstone Lake on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 8 am to 1 pm. The event is open to children 12 and younger. The event is free, and parking fees have been waived for those participating in the event.
Staff from the sponsoring agencies will teach kids how to set a hook and cast their line before they head down to the lake to get started. Prizes will be given out for the most fish caught, the largest fish, and the smallest fish. There will also be four fish with special tags. Each of these fish, if caught, will be worth $100 for the lucky youth fisherman on the day of the event. Fun door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Event staff can provide some fishing poles, but they almost always run out. Therefore, it’s recommended to bring a pole, fishing line, and bait.
