Sierra Blanca Regional Airport (SBRA) is owned & operated by the Village of Ruidoso, NM. Designated as a public use airport, Sierra Blanca Regional is located 15 nautical miles (28 km) northeast of the central business district of the resort town of Ruidoso on approximately 1600 acres off of NM State Hwy 220, also known locally as Airport Road, in Alto, NM. SBRA field elevation is 6814.
The current airfield was initially constructed & completed in 1987. SBRA was known as Ruidoso Municipal Airport & the previous airport location was in the center of the Village of Ruidoso where The Links Golf Course, the Lodge at Sierra Blanca hotel, the Ruidoso Convention Center and the Ruidoso Elementary School are currently situated.
Sierra Blanca Regional Airport is fully certified as a 14CFR, Part 139 by the Federal Aviation Administration & provides aircraft rescue & firefighting (ARFF) services as required by a Part 139 certificate.
The terminal is open from 6 am to 8 pm daily during the summer (April to Oct.) and 7 am to 6 pm (MST) during the winter months (Nov. to March).
Jet A and 100 LL aviation fuels are sold on site. After hour fueling can be arranged but is subject to a call out fee.
We do have a courtesy car provided by Sierra Blanca Motors. There is a maximum of 2 hours use by pilots.
Every year the Mountain High FlyIn & Pine Top Car show is held at the airport following the NM State Aviation Conference in Ruidoso. It is a whole day of planes, trains & automobiles; providing great entertainment for the whole family.
